I'm back from Shanghai and have now been to my first class of the semester. I am SO SLEEPY. Awake 30 hours followed by 6 hours of sleep = bad. I did doze a little on the planes, but not for more than about 10 minutes at a time, adding up to a total of maybe 1 hour.
I think it's funny that I managed to make it through the entire trip without having any digestive problems until the morning after I got home. :P Hopefully this is just because I ate pizza at the airport last night and my system is not used to greasy foods anymore.
Now it is time to go fight my way through the bookstore, and then reward myself with lunch from ABP. Class #2 today: intro neuroscience, 1:00-2:20. Then I am going to sleep. Also, assuming my calculations are correct, this year I get paid about $30 more on each paycheck than last year. Yay! I also have my last summer paycheck to deposit (why do they pay me so much more during the summer?).
Class #1 today, robotics, was good. It will be good to go back to doing stuff like that, which I really do enjoy (except for localization, blah). And we might get to play with Aibos. Woohoo! It's also good to be in a class where I am already familiar with most of the material, so I can confidently answer questions despite the fact that as usual about 90% of the class is male (blah, after this conference which was also like 90% male I am so sick of being in rooms full of men). I think my third class will be intro databases, which is on Monday, so I can sleep all day tomorrow.
2gouda4u, I guarantee that I will be thinking about you all the time while doing work for this robotics class. ;)

Date: 2005-09-06 04:15 pm (UTC)That always happens to me, too, although I tend to stay away from the less modern places while traveling. I think my body just gets too fatigued and collapses when it gets home.
That doesn't sound right--I didn't think we were supposed to get any more money than last year (unless you picked up external funding?). The idea behind summer pay is that we're supposed to be working a lot more, since we don't have classes (and they aren't paying for tuition either).
You know, after going to an undergrad program where the total population of the school was 75% male, the program itself being much higher than that, I'm a little sick of it too.

That's funny, I didn't realize men would get sick of men as easily. My undergrad was about 70% male overall and higher in the CS dept of course.
