crazy articles
May. 22nd, 2003 10:05 amSo I'm reading this article for background on the research I'm starting next week, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. For one thing, they keep pluralizing "matrix" as "matrixes" rather than "matrices," which isn't a big deal. What I really have a problem with is this description of a variable (it won't make much sense unless you write it down):
p, q, r, d members of Omega are grid points; d*delta(lowercase) member of Omega proper subset of Omega are detector positions on the boundary delta(lowercase)Omega.
Did they just say that Omega is a proper subset of Omega? Is that possible? That's what the little backwards C (sideways U) means, right?
That and I have no idea what Omega is. They keep throwing around greek letters and I don't know what any of them are supposed to mean. :P Anyone want to remind me of what "fluence" is? It sounds like I might have heard it in E&M . . .
