Grr. Okay, LJ didn't eat my entry this time, I accientally hit the touchpad and closed the window. GRR.
Anyway, what I was saying in my entry is that there are good books (hopefully) coming out this year!
- April -- Kushiel's Avatar (by Jacqueline Carey)
- June -- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- "Summer" -- Hidden Warrior (by Lynn Flewelling)
I wonder if Kushiel's Avatar is going to be another 1000 pages like Kushiel's Dart and Kushiel's Chosen were. I hope so! I wonder how many of these books she's going to write though, because you know how when a series about one main character gets too long it starts to go majorly downhill . . . how many exciting things can happen to one person, even if she is touched by a god?
Anyway, I suppose they'll keep going until Phedre and Melisande have some kind of final showdown and either one of them kills the other or they live "happily" ever after with Phedre as Melisande's loving slave or something. It's gotta be one of those two. I'm glad the business with Joscelin is taken care of though! :) He's a cutie!
I really hope that Hidden Warrior will be as good as Bone Doll's Twin was. I really liked the grotesque element of BDT. I have to say my favorite scene was probably the one right near the beginning where the king is flopping around the dead baby to make sure it's dead. That and the mother's "insanity" and such. Hopefully any slashiness in this one won't be quite so gratuitous as the last one (meaning that I hope it will be relevant to the plot rather than thrown in for the "look, I still support gay rights" effect).
I want to reread BDT now, too bad I left it in school and once I go back I'll be too busy.
Speaking of which, my room is a library, you know. I always bring my favorite books to school, and I gladly loan them out to anyone who's interested (I think Lori still has a couple of mine, hmm). So if you're looking for slashy fantasy, I've got plenty. I also have an assload of books by Patricia C. Wrede (though I seem to have lost my copy of Magician's Ward at home somewhere).
Unrelated: I went and had that barium upper GI test done. The radiologist said that he didn't immediately see anything wrong, so that's good.
But anyway, yay, new books for me!
